Your support helps build health care that’s grounded in dignity, fairness and inclusion.

For too many in our community, inclusive care is still out of reach. The recent economic challenges and COVID pandemic have further deepened long-standing health inequities. Our Equity, Diversity, Inclusivity and Social Accountability Initiative is working to close these gaps - but many patients are still in need of basic necessities such as clothing and toiletries, or mental and emotional health support. That’s why your help is critical. This Giving Tuesday, your gift goes further to advance equitable health care. Every $1 = $2.*

Here are a few ways we are advancing health care equity:

Providing all patients comfort, compassion and care.

Access to basic everyday necessities supports physical health, restores confidence, and creates the foundation for healing and wellness. With your support, our Comfort Closet helps remove these barriers by providing clothes, shoes, toiletries and hygiene products to those in need - all offered with dignity, privacy and no screening required.

Training staff to see the whole person behind the patient.

Some patients face challenges that go beyond physical health - shaped by mental, emotional and social factors. That’s why our family medicine residents complete a mental health rotation that includes addiction medicine, geriatric medicine, psychiatry, counselling and more. This assists them in providing compassionate and inclusive care that’s responsive to each patient’s specific needs.

Creating a socially conscious environment.

We strive to provide compassionate, respectful and culturally responsive care to everyone who enters our doors. Our staff participates in Indigenous and other cultural safety training, with a focus on equity, diversity and inclusion. These programs help us build patient understanding, strengthen our relationships, and better partner with them in their care.
