Mount Sinai Hospital owes its existence to a small group of Jewish women, the Ezras Noshen, who went door-to-door soliciting for donations, determined to raise enough money to open a hospital where everyone was welcome. Their inextinguishable spirit built an institution that continues to break barriers and defy the odds every day.
Fuelled by this invaluable support, Mount Sinai has grown from its humble origins as the Toronto Hebrew Maternity and Convalescent Home, into a leader in Canadian health care and a world-renowned centre for breakthrough medical science and research.
